okay, i'm gonna soon buy a hair straightener, and i need something that actually straightens my hair, leaves it shiny and straight for the whole day, and doesn't cost too much. any ideas? (budget is under 20$$!) i also have short/medium hair with really thick hair. Any help, Please? What is the best straightener to use on thick hair?
I've used the cheap-o Wal Mart flat irons and they do not work well on thick hair. Besides the fact that they fry your hair to death, they are also bulky, heavy, and cheaply made. They will not keep it straight all day and they ruin your hair so say goodbye to any shine.
When it comes to flat irons you really get what you pay for so, why no invest in a GOOD flat iron?
Try the Sedu. That is what I use and my hair is nothing but thick curls.....
I can take it from this

In about 30 minutes (which is amazingly fast for me). plus i can keep it straight for 2-3 days with minimal touchups! It is great in humidity too. I air dry my hair, smooth on some heat protectant (CHI Infra Treatment Thermal Protective) and straighten. It costs $115 with free shipping and a free flat iron heatproof holder! (It's totally worth the price!)
Once you try it you will NEVER go back to the crappy drugstore irons. They offer a money back guarantee so what do you have to lose? What is the best straightener to use on thick hair?
I have been using Remington Wet 2 Straight Hair Straightener for a while now. My hair is medium, thick and curly. I love the results...it leaves my hair neat and shiny. Don't leave it on one part for too long and use protein shampoo to built the cells damaged by the heat of straightner.
About the price: it ranges something around $21-$22 . I suggest look for sale at Kohls or Bed, Bath...
Even though i have short hair now, i've lived with long, thick hair 4 most of my life. First thing is to make sure u've blown dry ur hair with a natural bristled brush. I know its a pain but it works. U have to do it in small sections...the smaller the better and it adds shine. Use a ceramic flat iron afterwards; again, in small sections. Gold and Hot makes a great flat iron under 20 bucks...I hope this will help
