My chi is still working. You must be hearing about the older models. As long as you get a newer model your fine. The GHD is the best one ever though. However, if you don't have product, like hair spray to keep your hair in place, your hair is going to get messed up when you go outside. No straightener will prevent that. Only a good product will.
the lady who does my hair said that the new Paul Mitchell straightener was really really good. As for the price, they are pretty expensive. On an average, around $200.
