I have mixed race (black %26amp; white) hair and relaxed it a month ago, it's really thick so I need a good pair of straighteners to keep it sleek, I'm just wondering which flat irons/straighteners are the best? What are the best straighteners/flat irons to use on relaxed afro hair?
Well, try CHI or GHD. But to have your hair straightened the way you want, sleek for long you will have to: first blow dry your hair, using a round brush and a hand hair dryer, from the roots, until tips, just to make hair medium-loose. Only after you can pass a flat iron on your hair, strand by strand, but not many times. Dont forget to make deep conditioning treatments with masks, to keep hair healthy and the right ones will make it smoother. Cheers. What are the best straighteners/flat irons to use on relaxed afro hair?
The Maxius hair straightener is great. Unlike typical flat irons, one side of this straightener has a ';comb'; like surface that grips your hair. It also uses steam which keeps your hair hydrated. I've used this straightener for over 3 years now, there's nothing like it. It works on every type of hair, every race, every texture.
There's infomercials about this product on TV all the time, but if you can't catch one, here's a website that's selling it for a reasonable price. Don't waste your time or cash on anything else!! I'm certain you'll like this straightener. :)

you probably need a pressing comb if you relaxed it and its still an afro, heat up the comb on the stove, rub it on a white paper towel, if it burns the towel its too hot and will burn ur hair, grease ur scalp, part ur hair in small sections, comb through the section slowly, turn ur wrist so the hair bends over the back part of the comb (the part with no teeth) and sandwich the hair between a folded up hand towel (not a washcloth)
In addition to the answers here, you'll find a lot of good reviews and recommendations in the ';Pressing'; section of the Black Hair Media Forum. You really should check it out, they have a lot of great information on flat irons and hot combs for all kinds of african american hair:

My mom bought me a CHI a few years ago and I love it. It heats up quickly and really straightens the hair. I use it after I wrap set my hair or if I need to go another week between relaxers.
