What's the best straightener to buy?

I have naturally curly hair. I've tried Chi, but the best one I've used thus far is Maxi-glide. It has metal combs that brush your hair while you are straightening it, which makes it much more silky and straight. It also creates small bursts of steam which makes the straightening last longer. Also, make sure to put a straightening serum on your hair before using the tool. My process is this: Start with wet hair, apply a de-frizzing/ straightening serum, then apply a straightening balm to the ends, blow dry hair straight and divide into sections and secure with small hair clips, use Maxi-Glide starting at the bottom and working up, after straightening, apply a small amount of balm to finish. My course hair looks so silky and smooth using this process. Maxi-glide costs about the same as Chi, about 100.00 and you can get it from QVC or the Maxi-Glide website. It usually comes with styling products as well. Good luck! What's the best straightener to buy?

Hi souper.g

The best straightener depends a lot on your lifestyle, your hair length, the type of hair you have and your budget.

Definitely, the CHI and Sedu are great choices. So is the GHD.

If you have thick or coarse hair or damaged or fine hair, you should look for one that has a variable temperature control so you can dial in the right amount of heat. The Sedu models and the newer CHI Turbo models have this feature.

If you have long hair you might want to go for a wider model than the common 1'; varieties. This is so the plates stay hot enough while passing through the long hair.

Also, if you plan on using a straightener often, get a good one. A lot of people have troubles because they use a cheap one and it causes extra damage to your hair. Oh, and all straighteners will cause some damage when used regularly. We are talking temperatures of almost 400 degrees here. So definitely look at using some heat protectants whenever possible.

Last tip. Make sure to keep your straightener clean, especially when using heat protection. The buildup of this stuff on the plates is not good for your hair or your straightener
chi or ghd
Chi is actually the worst thing you can put with your hair.. :/

Yes, it looks nice and everything when you straighten it but later on when you don't straighten it it's gonna look like crap %26amp; all fried and burnt. :/
the maxiglide
Chi, Its amazing!
I love the MaxiGlide you can get it on the Home shopping network and it's only 69.99 right now.
Hai....waaaay better than Chi. I've had mine for about 5 years now. Costs about $125 and is the best.
