I use Chi and Sedu (one for each condo) which both do a fantastic job. Dont go cheap because they dont use the right material which will ruin your hair. Also, these better products get a lot hotter which is a good thing for straightening your hair.
Lastly, MAKE SURE you purchase some sort of heat protection because even if it's a $300 flat iron, your hair will get damaged. Redken and Chi are what I use for that.

i did have really thick long hair.. its abit shorter now but the best ones for me were GHD's.. they are quite expensive to buy in the shops but i got mine off ebay for about 拢70
