i have a pretty good one, but its a professional one, and costs about $40. but if this is your first time straightening it, then heres 2 tips: NEVER hold it in one spot on your hair for longer than 2 seconds. it makes creases in it. but i figured out a way to last about an hour more than usual: at the end of you hair, hold it there for about 2-3 seconds. it really works, but not for much longer than usual. it also will damage your hair, so i would try a spray that protects your hair from the heated plates. Are steam straighteners good?
First off a steam straightner isn't good at all because it will damage your hair so badly you will probably have to just cut what is damaged because it cannot be repaired. I suggest using the card and a little extra money on a flat iron. Maybe this one, http://www.target.com/Andis-Nano-Ceramic/a>

But i am letting you know right now, These flat irons ex; Con air. and store brands will work for only a period of time. Like maybe a few months then it will just stop working or get weaker. Which is why you should order a chi or biosilk. But for now you can use the conair if you like.
Get a brazilian keratin treatment at a salon. You wont have to worry anymore.

Google it- youtube it

It`s WONDERFUL
steam? that doesnt sound good

sound like it will cause frizz or major damage ?
