Do steam straighteners cause less damage than flat irons?

My hair is INCREDIBLY fragile and is practically on the verge of frying from being flat-ironed like four times. Do steam straighteners cause less damage, or any damage than flat irons? Also, can you steam straighten more often than flat iron?

Although my hair isn't exactly curly, it just seems to... wrap around my head in the ugliest manor possible.Do steam straighteners cause less damage than flat irons?
No! They damage your hair even more, never flat iron on wet hair either. Maybe blowdrying it straight with COOL air settings would be best, and talk to your hairdresser.
