Steam Straightener vs. Tourmaline Staightener?
Whats the difference between the two types, and which one do you think is better? I hear that both of them are gentle on your hair, but that could just be promotional stuff. I was looking at the new Conair Infiniti Nano Silver Steam Straightener, and the reviews were either really good or really bad......anyone with good advice????Steam Straightener vs. Tourmaline Staightener?
honestly, a ceramic straightner is known to treat hair best. i've personally tried a tourmaline straightner and it lasted not longer than 5 months. I have never ever heard of a steam straightner, but if it hast to do with being able to transform wet hair to straight dry hair, that's also really bad for your hair. It damages it so much, so i would really check out a ceramic straightner before you buy a tourmanline. i've had mine for a year and a half and it still works wonders:]

it goes through rough and thick hair. the ionic straightner takes me 5 min. less than 10 with my other ceramic tool. and it does not burn my hair as much as my old one.

When it is slightly wet[like if your in a hurry]it damages your hair so much more.And using a protective cream before you hair can protect your hair so it is less damaging,makes it smell good and can help you straighten faster.Isn't it really bad for your hair when you straighten it and you can see steam? The boiling water softens the keratin of the cortex; then the steam from the boiling water expands and forms tiny bubbles inside the hair. The hair is thereby weakened, and may break.That's why you see the steam.Ways to prevent it is to let your hair dry 100%, apply a heat protector (you can find some at beauty supplies stores) then straighten it. If your hair wasn't wet when you saw the steam it's probably the flat iron,you may need to get a new one :)

A straightener is NOT supposed to double as a hair dryer. But, if you see steam after applying a straightening balm, a thermal protector, a glossy finisher, etc. and you see steam, it's not too bad at all, just the heat reacting with the product. I find that after seeing steam, hair actually turns out better. but remember, try not to use your straightener daily. Try to use it only 3-4 times a week at most.

but still your straightener shouldn't be any hotter than 200c i know that sounds hot.

thats not steam hon, thats smoke. that means your hair is starting to burn. turn you iron down a little and don't leave it in one spot to long. also, try giving your hair a break every few days, find a cute way to wear it unstraightened.
Well i don't recommend straightening
your hair after a shower that can have bad effects on it but if you use lots of conditioner especially on the tips
of your hair it should be fine.

I had one of the Conair steam straighteners, it didn't work that well. I bought it at Zellers. I have a new Conair ceramic straightener which works like a charm, even on wet hair! It was only about $30 and I got it at London Drugs. It's on sale for $34.97 at Zellers right now:

I flat ironed my hair yesterday and while the body came it pretty ok my ends kind of look dry and funny. I used a Conair Infiiti Professional Pure Ceramic at 360 degrees. It also has a coating of some sort of hair product to make it shiny and less damaged.
A chi will cost maybe 150 but its way worth it and you could get a few years out of it unlike a conair

How to use a Conair steam straightener?
well its really not hard. i would reccomend sometime of protection for your hair(so your hair doesnt like burn and get dry), you can find it probably at hair salons....or like target or something, where ever they sell shampoo n stuff, and spray a little on your hair where you are straightening and then if you have thick hair start with the layer on the bottom...then on the top layers. when you straighten it start from the top and just move down...dont go super slow so your hair gets really hot, but dont go really fast or your hair wont straigthen as well. if you straighten it by layer your hair will stay straightened longer. =] %26amp;%26amp; dont take do too much hair at a time or it would straighten as well...but dont take too little. it comes naturally after a while =] hope i could help!!!!!!!!! =]

I suggest asking her to return it and buying a Solia / Sedu / GHD (Professional Brands) on www.folica.com, where they sell them SUPER CHEAP. I have thick, frizzy hair so I just bought a Solia off there and I got such a good deal! And the Solia is damp to dry so if you're in a rush, you can skip blow drying and just use the straightener. Should i get the conair steam straightener? it looks good but i don't know if it's the best choice.?
i already have a conair straightener that doesn't work but i have a good feeling about the steam straightener. i just don't know what to doShould i get the conair steam straightener? it looks good but i don't know if it's the best choice.?
I have heard that the CHI straightener is really good, but it is pricey. I personally found the Remington Wet to Sraight iron to work best for me. I had a regular conair once and it just burnt my hair. My sis stole it from me and her hair has split ends and stuff now. The remington has lasted a long time for me and it is only about 23 bucks at Wal-Mart or Target. I always get compliments on how healthy my hair is. I always use tresseme heat protectant spray with the iron ($4.00). I also recommend Beyond Straight heat shield but it's kinda pricey. now that my hair is short I use the Remington 1inch wet to straight and it works well on my medium thick hair. Yes it does work. I just got it for Christmas and I tried it as soon as I opened it. I was so amazed with the results. It works better than any other flat iron I have used. I have very thick hair and it was impossible to find an iron that wouldn't burn my hair. But the Infiniti makes my hair straight, shiny and supper soft. Even when I went to bed and woke up the next morning it was still straight. Yes the Infiniti does work and it is worth the money.natural beauty

I have the chi one. My mother in law is a hair dresser and owns her own salon. SHe gave it to me for x-mas. I like the chi serum (smells great!) and I use a little with the straightener.
Also, if you want to permanently straighten your hair try bio ionic. It's the chemical straightener from Japan. I bought some online for a total of $50 with shipping. I just got it done in the salon for $400. Next time I'm doing it myself. They f-ed it up anyways so I spent $400 on a horrible hair cut and half done straightening. %26gt;:[

I recently bought a Conair Nano Silver Steam Straightener and can't seem to get my hair straight enough or stay straight. I have the babyliss radiance straighteners, and they are the best thing ever! The steam function is incredibly helpful, it really smooths and adds shine to your hair, however, it's very bad for your hair so I don't do it often.
The only bad thing I would have to say is that their a bit big, and awkward to use, but you get used to it.
I must say mine (when i bought them) were quite costly - 拢97, and most people said that if you were going to spend that much, you might as well fork out the extra for Ghd's. however, I decided to go with the babyliss ones, and I must say they arree sooooo much better than Ghds. I've had my babyliss ones for 4 years now, and never have they broken. So very pleased :D
You have made the right choice for buying these, and they are fine for your hair condition, there is an adjustable thing, that you can change the heat setting, so if yours is thin, then i'd advise you to keep it quite low, otherwise it could really damage your hair :D

Not sure what price they'd be but they're worth buying I have thick and I mean thick curly hair (hairdress cut their finger in it thick) All colours would preform the same and they reach a high tempreture so my hair is proper sleek you can also learn to curl with them too. They're worth the money as they do keep the hair straight depending on the weather of course.

Was there a hologram sticker on the styler? If it is a geniune GHD there should be definetly be one. Check this out!!!! Also go onto the GHD website and register your styler. If it doesn't accept it, it most definetly is a fake. Did it come with a Tax Invoice? GHD wont guarentee the warranty without one. Did you look at the EBayers feedback? Does the EBayer offer a full refund if unhappy with purchase? All of those things are very important in deciding on purchasing through EBay. As you probably gather there are many companys out there trying to sell countefeit goods. BE VERY CAREFUL.

I think ghd is only sold in salons or go 2 www.ghdhair.com.au or ghdstraightener.com.au. Make sure you buy a true ghd they have a code on the cord %26amp; just on the inside of the straightener if you dont buy a real 1 you dont get the 2 year warranty from ghd. I buy mine from a guy that gets them from china at around 40gbp each to sell for 110 each. I dont think you can get them cheap enough here to sell on at a good profit. Even the GHD suppliers sell them to the hairdressers at around 90 quid for the pink ones so theres not much profit.
Think about distribution abroad,ie china where you can get them for pennies. I personally do not know the name of the supplier otherwise id get them cheaper still.I have to go through a third party supplier that has contacts with these companies. They are 100 percent genuine product too with holograms and serial numbers etc.Where can I buy ghd mk4 straighteners from wholesaler? please help me?

i have one!! It`s okay but I have this one I got from Sephora.. I have thick hair so I needed a better one. My lil` sis has the pink one and she has baby like hair doesnt break easily like the chi...I just ordered a FHI!!! straightener!!!!!!!!????

so i advise to use that :]
Fhi, chi's burn your hair. My friends hair got all dry, and ruined from using a chi straightener 3x a week. Not even kidding you.
I truly recommend a Fhi, because i have one myself.

FHI straighteners when wet?
I got FHI straighteners for christmas, and it says on the box that they work best on damp hair. Does anyone know if this actually works, and that it won't damage my hair?FHI straighteners when wet?
i used to have these straighteners, and i used them once on damp hair and i found that it made my hair frizzy and dry.. i didnt like the sizzling sound so i stopped and never tried again!
im not sure if it damages your hair, well not any more than normal straightening does!!

My hairdresser has these, and I love them. She tells me that they are not as damaging to your hair as other brands. They are also quick to use and make my hair look amazing, not unnaturally straight like when I use GHDs, and it stays that way until I wash it. Only downside is, they are quite expensive. I'd definately reccommend them.

FHI straighteners????
I got a FHI straightener. It's pink, about $100. Do you recommend it?? I used it and my hair still frizzed a little bit today, but I live in FL and it's sooooo humid here. I don't know if it was worth the money....kinda bummed. My hair is so think and wavy, and it's so hard for me to keep the frizz down. I have never used a FHI, but I have had experience with straighteners. Look at comments first. My first straightener I got (one that works like a CHI) didn't work well when I first got it, I didn't know how to really straighten my hair! But after I got my second to go on and off with, the Andis straightener it got the same, and then kinda went down. Thats what happened to my first one, but I just needed to give it a break. Get a second one, but not a FHI so you have a backup.
