Steam Straightener vs. Tourmaline Staightener?
Whats the difference between the two types, and which one do you think is better? I hear that both of them are gentle on your hair, but that could just be promotional stuff. I was looking at the new Conair Infiniti Nano Silver Steam Straightener, and the reviews were either really good or really bad......anyone with good advice????Steam Straightener vs. Tourmaline Staightener?
honestly, a ceramic straightner is known to treat hair best. i've personally tried a tourmaline straightner and it lasted not longer than 5 months. I have never ever heard of a steam straightner, but if it hast to do with being able to transform wet hair to straight dry hair, that's also really bad for your hair. It damages it so much, so i would really check out a ceramic straightner before you buy a tourmanline. i've had mine for a year and a half and it still works wonders:]
good luck,

Chi vs . The Conair Ionic Steam Straightener . ?
What do you think is better ?
I have very thick curly hair .
How long would it take to straighten my hair with each one ?
What are the prices of eachone ? (I live in Canada ) Chi vs . The Conair Ionic Steam Straightener . ?
personally i think the conair steam straightner.
it goes through rough and thick hair. the ionic straightner takes me 5 min. less than 10 with my other ceramic tool. and it does not burn my hair as much as my old one.
i got mine off of folica.com.
for 99.99.
it works well.
:]
good luck. Chi vs . The Conair Ionic Steam Straightener . ?
Just go with the CHI
Anything conair is really horrible and conair products aren't that great to begin with. The CHI is obviously more expensive than the conair but it is very well worth it. Anywhere from $100 - $150
neither conair sucks %26amp; chi breaks/burns hair
tryyyy

I got it from the hair dresser across the street.
It works really good.
The CHI is excellent! i love it. it straigtens your hair within minutes.

Isn't it really bad for your hair when you straighten it and you can see steam? (not a steam straightener)?
and right after i straighten it and touch my hair, it's so hot! i feel so sorry for my hair. is hair built to take heat in any way?Isn't it really bad for your hair when you straighten it and you can see steam? (not a steam straightener)?
i used to have this problem..
make sure your hair is COMPLETELY dry before you straighten it. When it is slightly wet[like if your in a hurry]it damages your hair so much more. And using a protective cream before you hair can protect your hair so it is less damaging, makes it smell good and can help you straighten faster.Isn't it really bad for your hair when you straighten it and you can see steam? (not a steam straightener)?
Water boils at 100 掳C. If a flat iron (or any heat device) is put on to wet hair, it boils the water inside the hair. The boiling water softens the keratin of the cortex; then the steam from the boiling water expands and forms tiny bubbles inside the hair. Eventually the hair breaks off, either at or somewhere near a bubble. The hair is thereby weakened, and may break. That's why you see the steam.Ways to prevent it is to let your hair dry 100%, apply a heat protector (you can find some at beauty supplies stores) then straighten it. If your hair wasn't wet when you saw the steam it's probably the flat iron, you may need to get a new one :)
hope this helped !!!
There are two answers to this question. I would know, because I work at a hair salon. If your hair is wet or even damp when you straighten it, you WILL see steam. That is extremely bad for your hair. A straightener is NOT supposed to double as a hair dryer. But, if you see steam after applying a straightening balm, a thermal protector, a glossy finisher, etc. and you see steam, it's not too bad at all, just the heat reacting with the product. I find that after seeing steam, hair actually turns out better. but remember, try not to use your straightener daily. Try to use it only 3-4 times a week at most.
you actually burning the cuticles on your hair which leads to breakage.
if this is a ceramic hair Straightener like the GHD its safer than the steel plated.
but still your straightener shouldn't be any hotter than 200c i know that sounds hot.
i use GHD at my salon and they ';steam'; some peoples hair it all depends if you have product in your hair as well.
a heat proof serum for your hair is great in protecting the hair.
so good luch and look after your hair.
thats not steam hon, thats smoke. that means your hair is starting to burn. turn you iron down a little and don't leave it in one spot to long. also, try giving your hair a break every few days, find a cute way to wear it unstraightened.
Well i don't recommend straightening
your hair after a shower that can have bad effects on it but if you use lots of conditioner especially on the tips
of your hair it should be fine.
xx Hollie xx
no, mine does it as well. but hair is like fingernails, it cant feel anything and neither can you.
the steam is cos your hair is cold and straightener is realy REALLY hot!
Might want to protect it with Mixed Chicks deep conditioner before you do the heat. You can use their leave-in on the ends, too before you iron. Good luck.
Thats just moisture from your hair. Trying spraying a hair product thats used for heat like tresemme has some stuff like that. It will help from damaging your hair if you straighten it a lot or everyday.
I do the same thing, but yes, it IS bad for your hair.
Buying a heat protector spray will make it a little safer.
no that means its working !!
